The offering of the Holy Mass for the special intentions is an ancient practice. Inscriptions on Christian tombs dating from the second century refer to offering the sacrifice of the Mass for the souls of the departed. The prayer of the Mass also can be offered in thanksgiving for blessings received, to celebrate special occasions like anniversaries and birthdays, and for the graces needed to face difficult circumstances.

The monks of St. Gregory’s Abbey welcome requests for Masses to be offered for special intentions. Intentions are offered with devotion by priests of the monastery during the daily celebration of Mass in the Abbey Church. To submit a Mass intention, please contact the Abbey office or send your request by mail. Requests for special dates can be made and every attempt will be made to accommodate the request. Mass cards are available and can be sent to those for whom a Mass has been offered. While no donation is required, the current suggested offering for a Mass is $10. These offerings are used to support the monks in their daily needs.
