A Message from the Abbot
Welcome to St. Gregory's Abbey!
Through the grace of God, we as Benedictine monks are able to seek God in all that we do, in all seasons of our lives, and in every person we meet. For 150 years, our community has striven to give witness to the love of God that comes to us in Jesus Christ, and to be of service to the mission of the Church and the needs of the society in which we live.
Benedictine life is not a theory, but a lived reality. As St. Benedict recognizes in the Rule he wrote for monastic life in the early sixth century, each community must adapt itself to particular circumstances, challenges and opportunities. Even so, the goal of monastic life remains the same: the pursuit of everlasting life in service to our true King, Jesus Christ, who is the Way, the Truth and the Life.
We are eager to share our way of life with others in many different ways. We are pleased to be united with you in prayer and happily receive your special prayer intentions. Perhaps you can enhance your own relationship with God through the wisdom that has come to us through the Benedictine monastic tradition. You might find a place of retreat and a sanctuary of peace at our monastery through a short visit or through one of our days of reflection. You might even discover in our community to vocation to which God is calling you!
Whatever might be the case, we hope that your "virtual" visit by way of this website will be helpful to you. Be assured that you already are in our prayers and we hope that you will also remember us. May God bless you and your loved ones with the great gifts of faith, hope and love!
Peace,
Abbot Lawrence
