Rt. Rev. Martin Lugo, OSB, 9th Abbot of St. Gregory's Abbey passed away peacefully early this morning, surrounded by members of the Monastic community. He was 91 years of age. Fr. Martin professed his monastic vows on August 15, 1956, and was ordained to the priesthood on May 1, 1962. He was elected Abbot on February 5, 1997 and blessed on May 29, 1997 by the late Archbishop Eusebius Beltran, Archbishop of Oklahoma City.

 

The Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, July 17th at 10:30 a.m. in the Abbey Church with interment following in the Abbey cemetery. A vigil will be held Thursday, July 16th at 7:00 p.m. in the Abbey Church. Both will be livestreamed on the Abbey website (www.monksok.org, click on Pray With Us and then Livestream Links) and on Facebook.
