The monks of St. Gregory’s Abbey announce the monastic profession of Br. Joseph Romo De La Torre, O.S.B.. The profession ceremony took place during the celebration of Mass in the Abbey Church on March 19, the Solemnity of St. Joseph.
Br. Joseph professed the vows of obedience, stability and conversion of life valid for three years. Abbot Lawrence Stasyszen, O.S.B., explained, “During this period of temporary vows, Br. Joseph becomes more fully integrated into the life of the monastic community. He is very dedicated to our liturgical life, is not afraid of hard work and is always eager to be of assistance in meeting the needs of the monks and our guests.”
Br. Joseph was born in Mexico and has spent most of his life in the United States. Before entering the monastery he was a member of Epiphany Parish in Oklahoma City. He became a postulant at the monastery in 2023 and was clothed as a novice on March 18, 2024. During his period of temporary vows Br. Joseph will continue his study of monastic spirituality while assuming greater responsibilities in support of the operations of the Abbey.
