Br. Isidore Harden, O.S.B.

Brother Isidore professed vows as a monk of St. Gregory’s Abbey on August 20, 1981.  He was instituted as an Acolyte on July 15, 2012. 

Br. Isidore was born in Flushing, NY, and grew up on Long Island. Having completed an associate’s degree in construction technology from the State University of New York, Farmingdale, he came to Oklahoma to attend Oklahoma State University where he completed a bachelor's degree in architectural engineering and drafting. Following his monastic profession, Br. Isidore returned to Oklahoma State where he completed a master's degree in computer science. He assisted in various ways at St. Gregory’s College, including teaching courses in computer science and horsemanship. He also served as the director of the Charham Therapeutic Riding Program on the campus and provided assistance to the programs of the Oklahoma Benedictine Institute on Mental Retardation. 

Br. Isidore currently oversees the maintenance of Abbey computer network systems and as manager of the Abbey Greenhouse. He is a teacher/trainer of courses on home health care and safety for East Central University in Ada, OK. In recent years he has become an accomplished musician on a variety of Native American flutes and has developed several delicious recipes for mead using Abbey honey.
