Br. Benet Exton, O.S.B.

Brother Benet professed vows as a monk of St. Gregory’s Abbey on July 11, 1986. He was instituted into the ministries of Reader and Acolyte in 2007

Br. Benet was born in Cushing, OK. He completed an associate's degree at St. Gregory's College in 1984.  He completed his bachelor's degree at Benedictine College in Atchison, KS, and his master's degree in library science from the University of Oklahoma. For over twenty years he served in the library at St. Gregory's University, fulfilling the role of cataloging librarian. Br. Benet served as a monastic member of the St. Gregory's University Board of Directors. Later he provided assistance to visitors, students and staff members in the Welcome Center of the university.

Currently Br. Benet serves as one of the porters of the monastery, as gift processor for the Abbey Advancement Office, and as manager for The Monks’ Marketplace at the Abbey. He regularly reviews books for various newspapers, journals and websites.
