Brother Benet was born in Cushing, OK. He entered the novitiate at St. Gregory's Abbey in 1985, after completing his associate's degree at St. Gregory's College in 1984. He made his monastic profession of vows on July 11, 1986. He was installed into the ministries of Reader and Acolyte in 2007.
Br. Benet completed his bachelor's degree at Benedictine College in Atchison, KS, and his master's degree in library science from the University of Oklahoma. For over twenty years he served in the library at St. Gregory's University, fulfilling the role of cataloging librarian. Br. Benet was elected in 2012 to serve as a monastic member of the St. Gregory's University Board of Directors. In early 2012 he was assigned to staff the Welcome Center near the main entrance of Benedictine Hall, continuing in the role until 2015.
Currently Br. Benet serves in the Abbey Office and as the gifts processor and data base manager for the Abbey Development Office, Guest Master and Archivist. He also reviews books for various newspapers, journals and websites. Some of his hobbies are genealogical research, reading books on the Civil War and fantasy stories, collecting flags, and music.
