Br. George Hubl O.S.B.

Brother George was born in Oklahoma City and grew up near Norman, OK, where he attended St. Joseph Parish with his family. Br. George attended St. Gregory's College and became a postulant for St. Gregory's Abbey in January 1998. He made his monastic profession of vows on Aug. 6, 1999. Br. George was instituted as an Acolyte in 2007.  He completed his bachelor\'s degree at St. Gregory's University in 2008. Br. George is an accomplished photographer and serves as photographer for the Abbey and St. Gregory's University Athletics. He is a member of the Professional Photographers of Oklahoma and was instrumental in bringing their annual summer workshop to the campus of St. Gregory's for several years. 

Br. George maintains the Abbey website, and is responsible for the care of the Abbey Cemetery, keeping the final resting place of our monastic community and many oblates in good condition. Br. George assists the Director of Oblates in providing good hospitality for the Oblate gatherings and retreats held at the Abbey.  Br. George graduated in 2015 from the Culinary Science Program at Oklahoma State University in Okmulgee, OK, which has prepared him to provide service to the Abbey, university and guests in the Abbey kitchen through his current employment with Chartwells, the campus food service.  

He pursues several hobbies, including genealogy research, gardening, working with computers and making artisan soap for sale in the Abbey gift case. He enjoys caring for the Abbey’s flock of chickens which provides fresh eggs for the community and for sale to a devoted group of customers. He is an avid sports fan, especially of Nebraska football.
